La Pizzica, Fulham
We opened our doors in August 2013 with the aim of bringing lesser known regional Italian cuisine to Fulham – food and drink from Puglia and the wider Salento region. Since then we have had the opportunity to showcase all the wonderful food we grew up on.
It is a family business founded by three brothers: Rocco, Gianluca and Ivan D’Aversa, supported by an extraordinary team who love the Italian food and wine culture in their own right.
Today we started a new chapter of the journey by taking traditional recipes and adding some modern touches. One thing remains the same, the ingredients are of the highest quality and our passion for hospitality is unchanged. Traditionally, Apulian cuisine has been labeled Cucina Povera or Cucina Povera. This is based on the idea that the region is less verdant and therefore has fewer obvious global dishes. Although this is partly true, in fact, the label derives from the fact that very little of the earth’s bounty is wasted. Wild broccoli, asparagus, smaller cuts of meat are used with surprising results.
